MOI’M Gala 2014: Showtime

The MOI’M Gala is a formal party infused with entertainment, glamour, and class. Held annually every September, the Gala is the place to party with world-renowned celebrities and to make cherished memories with young professionals and students from all over the world. The MOI’M Gala is open to anyone who’s interested in Korean culture. Come prepared to spend the night away with old and new friends.

LOCATION

GOTHAM HALL

A historic landmark of NYC located at 1356 Broadway on 36th St., Gotham Hall is a magnificent ballroom with grand veneers and antique interior that speak for itself. The hall has hosted many prominent social events with Hollywood celebrities, making it the perfect place for a top-class gala like ours.

PROGRAM

Walk down the red carpet at Gotham Hall and into a night of glamour and festivity. Starting with a cocktail reception and hors d’oeuvres presented by KBS America and DIRECTV, the MOI’M gala consists of a three-course dinner, full premium open bar, and a night full of fun activities and entertainment.

SPECIAL GUEST

Musical Guests – Gary & Jungin

• Regarded as one of the most respected rappers in South Korea, Gary debuted in 2002 as one half of the Korean duo Leessang, joining forces with producer/singer Gil.

• Leessang set themselves apart from the rest of the Korean music scene through their honest and unfiltered lyrics and self-produced music.

• Gary has released eight highly successful albums since and also stars in various TV shows including Running Man.

• In the summer of 2014, Gary released “Your Scent” (사람냄새) with Jungin, who is known for being a long-time collaborator of Leessang and beloved for her trademark sound.

• The single was an instant hit, and it reached top of the charts during the summer.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Kyung B. Yoon

Kyung B. Yoon is Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Korean American Community Foundation (KACF), a nonprofit organization providing grants and capacity-building assistance to organizations working to address the most pressing needs in the Korean and Asian American communities in the New York area.

Formerly an award-winning correspondent for WNYW Fox Channel- 5 News, Kyung was the first Korean American broadcast reporter in New York. She went on to join the World Bank as the Executive Producer of Television where she created and hosted Global Links Television. She is currently a contributing reporter to Asian American Life on CUNY-TV.

A: All sales are final, but if you have concerns, please contact us at [email protected], and our staff will be happy to assist you.

Q: How can I get to Gotham Hall?
A: Gotham Hall is located on Broadway, between 36th and 37th St. The hall is walking distance from nearby metro stations, such as 34th Penn Station and 42nd Times Square (1,2,3 lines); and Herald Square (N, Q, R, B, D, F, M lines).

Q: Is parking available?
A: There are several parking garages located near the venue, with the closest ones located on 36th Street between 5th and 7th Avenue.

Q: What should I bring with me?
A: A government issued ID, a printed or mobile gala ticket, and an open mind to mingle with new friends.

Q: What kind of food will be at the cocktail reception?
A: Hors d’oeuvres will be provided during the cocktail reception. A three-course dinner will be provided during the gala.

Q: I have special dietary needs. Will there be food for me?

Q: How old do I have to be to attend?
A: Since this is an open bar event, you must be 21+ to attend. Sorry, boys and girls! If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected] and our staff will be happy to assist you.

Q: What time do the doors open?
A: The doors open at 6:30 pm. Our staff will greet you at the door, assist you with registration, and usher you to the cocktail reception hosted by KBS America and DIRECTV. Please arrive no later than 7:45 pm for the opening ceremony and gala.

Q: Can I change my seat/table if I don’t like the people seated next to me?
A: Seating is assigned by MOI’M staff prior to the event. We spend hours to make sure all guests are appropriately seated and will do our best to accommodate small groups to be seated in close proximity.

Q: Can I take photos/videos during the event?
A: Please do take a lot of photos and videos as souvenirs, and cherish the moment!

Q: Can I purchase a ticket at the door?
A: There will be no ticket sales at the door. Please purchase your ticket in advance.

Q: What should I wear?
A: This gala is a formal event. Please be dressed appropriately. Evening or cocktail dress for ladies. Black tie is optional for men.

Q: I missed the early bird ticket deadline. Can I still get a discount?
A: We only offer discounted early bird tickets at a limited quantity. Next year, be sure to buy in time for an early bird ticket!

Q: Can I get a group discount?
A: There are no group discounts, but you can form a 10-person group to purchase a table to be seated together.

Q: Will the event be in Korean or English?
A: The event will be hosted in both Korean and English.
